THE WINTER AT FUHUI PAGODA by Shih Ru Bin

THE WINTER AT FUHUI PAGODA
By Shih Ru Bin
Translated by "Laoha" Mario Li

This heart of mine
Lives in the deepest corner
Like a little butterfly
Flying
Through being and existence
Between history and language.
When will it go back to the light itself?

And the poems of mine
Were written in the frivolous youth
Like a little fairy biting and chewing
The dust of stream of consciousness,
Thickheaded,
Flames extinguished.
When will it find the brightness of itself?

In this desolate winter at Fu Hui pagoda,
The mountain and the water
Still can be clearly seen through clouds.

Why!
In time, Zen is endless for one to apprehend.

*Shih Ru Bin, a Buddhist poetess, pen name "zenyueh", born in 1964, curently living in a convent in Taiwan.
